Dialogue

Starting it

  1. “Oh. A visitor. I don't get visitors. That's the whole idea of living out here, and it was working great until just now.”
  2. “Since you're up. There's a farm across the water, out in the Hollow March. Brindle's. I owe Wendell a letter. I've owed it eleven years.”
  3. “Here. Take it to him. It says I'm sorry about the goat. He'll know which goat. There was only the one goat.”
  4. “Don't read it. Not because it's private. My handwriting's so bad you'll think it's a treasure map, and you'll go digging.”

Talking to them again

  1. “The letter's for Wendell. Brindle Farm, on the West Isle. You'll want a boat. I'd lend you mine, but I swam here.”
  2. “You've still got it. That's fine. It's waited eleven years. Another afternoon won't hurt the goat. The goat's past hurting.”

Handing it in

  1. “A letter. From Ansel? I thought he was dead. Not wished it. Just figured. Nobody's seen him since the goat.”
  2. “He's sorry about the goat. Well. That's nice. Here's something for your trouble. I was saving it for when I got hurt, but I feel fine.”

At the hand-in without the item

  1. “You've got the look of somebody with a letter for me. But there's no letter. So it's just a look.”

When your bag is full

  1. “Your bag's full. I'd hold onto it for you, but I've got nothing to hold it in. That's half of why I live like this.”
