Talk

  1. “Cutter. I sell weapons. Also coffins. People say that's a strange pair. It's not. It's before and after. I'm a full-service business.”
  2. “Everything I sell's matched to the buyer. Strong fella gets a strong sword. Weak fella gets a weak sword and a fitting. For the coffin. I mentioned the coffins.”
  3. “The things out in the waste got the glow on them. They hit harder at night. Everything hits harder at night. Ask my wife. Well, don't ask her. She's not here. That's the whole story.”
  4. “I came out here to get away from people. Then they put a dock in. Now people come through all day. Two a week. That's all day for out here.”
  5. “Fella asked me once if the blades glow from the waste. I said no. Then I looked. They don't. But I checked. You check, out here.”
  6. “I'll buy your old weapons. I'll sell them to the next fella. The next fella will sell them back to me. That's not trade. That's a tide.”

Shop greetings

  • “Weapons. Fit to your level. Like a good suit. Or a good box. I do both.”
  • “Still upright. Good. Most of my repeat business is lying down.”

Quips

After you buy

  • “Good choice. I'll keep the box in your size. No offence. It's just good business.”
  • “There you go. Sharp end goes in the other fella. That's the main thing.”

When you can't afford it

  • “You're short. Come back with the gold. I'll be here. I'm always here. That's the problem with the end of the island.”

When your bag is full

  • “Bag's full. I'd hold something for you, but things I hold tend to end up in a box.”

After you sell

  • “I'll take it. Somebody'll want it. Probably you, next week.”

When it is sold out

  • “Sold. One of each a day. That's my rule. I've got a lot of rules. Most of them are about the coffins.”

When they don't buy it

  • “That's not worth anything. I'd bury it for you. No charge. I like to keep in practice.”

When you walk off mid-sentence

  • “Walk away from a man with a sword. Bold. Or you're just bad at reading a room.”
  • “Go on. I'll keep your size on file.”
  • “Off you go. Point the sharp end away from you. That's all the advice I give for free.”
