Prospector · Desert Isle (3rd island), Last Chance.
Quests
- The Prospector's Claim (gives it)
Talk
- “Name's Mose. I came out here for gold. Found sand. Lots of sand. If sand was worth anything I'd own the world. I'd own it, and I'd still be sitting by this well.”
- “There's a mesa up on the bluffs. Red Table, they call it. Flat on top. You can see the whole island from up there. Which is a shame, 'cause then you've seen it.”
- “Past the flats there's a crypt. Old as the hills. Older. The hills came after. Folks go down there and I don't see 'em again. I figure they found the gold. That's what I tell myself.”
- “This well's the only good water on the island. I've been guarding it forty years. Nobody's tried to take it. I think they're scared of me. Or the water. Probably the water.”
- “You came over from the ash. I can tell. Your boots are grey. Everybody's boots are grey when they come over. A week here and they're tan. Then they're gone.”
More talk
- “I dug down far enough once to hit the bottom. Not rock. Bottom. Like the back of a painting. I filled the hole back in. Some things you don't put on a claim.”
When you walk off mid-sentence
- “Oi, I was gettin' to the gold bit! There's no gold bit. Never mind.”
- “Off you go, then. Everyone leaves. Except the sand. Sand stays forever.”
- “Rude. Fifty years out here, you'd think I'd be used to nobody listenin'. I am.”
